STOL-Grasshoppers DS1 win a thrilling match against ProBuild Lions

Last Saturday night, STOL-Grasshoppers DS1 played, in a well-filled sport hall Cleijn Duin, against ProBuild Lions. The team of coach Burhan Alibegovic took the win in an exicitingly close match (58-55).

The first half showed an equally scoring game played in a high tempo, with both teams playing a tight defense and having trouble finding the net. STOL-Grasshoppers scored mostly via faraway shots (5 x 3-pointers), while ProBuild Lions went for the inside plays. Halftime was reached with a small lead for the team from Landsmeer (21-24).

The 3rd period is clearly for STOL-Grasshoppers. They are not only shooting the long shots, but also playing more inside. After 5 minutes, ProBuild has 5 team fouls, and STOL-Grasshoppers are able to profit from the situation (9 out of 10 free throws in this period).

The last period begins with a 46-41 lead for STOL-Grasshoppers, but quickly the scores are again tied. After scoring back and forth, the score goes to 49-53 for ProBuild. The excitement is mounting. STOL-Grasshoppers now playing a full court press, and that has success. Via a score + bonus, the score is again tied at 53-53. ProBuild scores one more time with 1.20 min. left to play. Then it’s STOL-Grasshoppers who score 5 out of 6 free throws to win the match (58-55).
