DS1 win from Eurosped Twente

Saturday night, STOL-Grasshoppers DS1 played their second homegame in a week. After winning from Den Helder (74-53), they managed to do the same against Eurosped Twente. They took a big lead in the first half (42-24), and although the team from Twente came closer by in the second half, the win was never at risk.

Karin and Rianne open with 3-pointers, and Marianne v.d. Hoek answers for Eurosped with 3 scores in a row (6-7). Again a 3-pointer, this time from Kelli, is the beginning of a 9-0 run (17-9) STOL-Grasshoppers put on a lot of pressure to disrupt the opponent’s play building, and this works well. Charley makes an interception and score (20-11).

The second period shows a similar picture, and STOL-Grasshoppers, with a 16-2 run, widen their lead to 40-20.

When the match resumes after halftime, the plays are less organized and Eurosped profits with a number of (too) easy scores (55-46).

In the last quarter, STOL-Grasshoppers recuperate with a strong full court defense. Charley takes 2 steals and with scores by Sonja, Karin, Eline, and Rianne, the team from Katwijk again take their lead to 20 points (70-50). Eurosped comes a bit closer by, but Janine closes the scoring with a 3-pointer (74-53).
