DS1 lose at home
Last Saturday,
STOL=Grasshoppers DS1 met the top talents from CTO, Amsterdam. After a match
with a lot of determination, but not always good basketball, the team from
Amsterdam went home with the points.
The begin is for STOL-Grasshoppers,
Corinne Manuputty scores with 2 fast actions and it's
8-1 after 3 minutes. The supporters are treated to a number of nice breaks and
especially Rianne Philippo makes a good impression in this period with 2
interceptions and 9 points. After 14-6 in the 6th minute, CTO comes back in the
match and via a 3-pointer and free throw from Bettonvil
finish the period at 20-17.
In the 2nd period, CTO
keeps on scoring, especially from a distance, and after an 8-0 run (22-27),
coach Alibegovich calls for a time-out. STOL-Grasshoppers
manage to take over the lead via scores from Karin, Rianne, and Ingrid (31-29),
but Butter closes the period with a 3-pointer (31-32).
After halftime, the
match gets sloppy with ball loss on both sides. CTO, that is now playig a zone defense, shots sharper in this period which
results in an 11 point lead for them after 6 minutes (38-49). The home team
works hard in the defence, but has trouble finding
the "free shooter". Via scores from Rianne Philippo,
STOL-Grasshoppers are able to come closer by the end of the period (46-50).
The last 10 minutes
begin with a 3-poiner and 2 successful free throws from Bettonvil
(46-55). STOL-Grasshoppers suffer again from too much ball loss, and CTO can
widen their lead (48-59). With 6 minutes on the clock, STOL-Grasshoppers begin
on the catch-up race. A nice hook-shot by Eline Kraayenoord,
2 free throws by Kelli Valentine, and a 3-pointer by Sonja Kuijt brings
STOL-Grasshoppers to within 4 points (58-62). In a last attempt,
STOL-Grasshoppers try to stop the clock by making fouls, but the free throws
are hitting their marks (7 of 8), and the Amsterdam win is a fact (60-68).
Period stand: 20-17;
11-15; 15-18; 14-18.
Top scorers: Rianne Philippo 26, Corine Manuputty 10,
Karin Kuijt 9, Kelli Valentine 8.
Rebounds: Kelli Valentine 9, Ingrid van
der Plas 7, Karin Kuijt 7.

their direct rival, Lekdetec.nl. The team from Bemmel
is now in 3rd place with 20 points, and STOL-Grasshoppers are in 4th place with
18 points.
