Their defense is good, but DS1 score too little
STOL-Grasshoppers DS1
were again unable to take a win in Landsmeer, but
this time they came close. Probuild Lions took controle
of the match in the 4th quarter and won with 50-44.
The start of the match
is for the home team (8-1 after 3 minutes), but STOL-Grasshoppers recover and
in the 8th minute take a mimum lead (12-13).
Probuild maintains a
zone defense with a lot of pressure on the player with the ball, while
STOL-Grasshoppers play a strong man-to-man defense. When the scoring in the 2nd
period ends at 5-9, it seems both strategies are working.
The Lions begin strong
in the 2nd half with 6-0 to bring them in the lead against (23-22).
STOL-Grasshoppers answer with 2 3-pointers, and after scoring back and forth
the period ends with 30-30 on the scoreboard.
The last quarter will
be decisive, and with Molly McDowell taking the lead, it ends in favor of
Probuild (the American scores 16 points in the 2nd half, and 8 of 8 free
throws). At 39-30 STOL-Grasshoppers fight their way back to 43-39, but Kim
Hartman decides the match with a 3 pointer in the last seconds. Final score
50-44.
