STOL-Grasshoppers
DS1 lose in Amsterdam
STOL-Grasshoppers were not successful in their
away game against CTO in Amsterdam last Friday. After an equally scoring first
half, it’s CTO who are sharper after the break and eventually take the
well-earned win.
STOL-Grasshoppers,
without the sick Anouk Breel, begin well in the match (4-10), but CTO fight
their way back and tie the score in the last minute (12-12).
The
second period shows a reversal in scoring. CTO scores 8 points in a row, and
STOL-Grasshoppers only manage to score after 5 minutes (22-14). Then
Grasshoppers put on the pressure, and that is successful. CTO turns over the
ball many times, and the Katwijk’s team close in on
the Amsterdam talents´ team to 27-26 at halftime.
The
second half stays close for 7 minutes (38-35), but then Grasshoppers fail to
score and allow CTO to widen their lead to 45-37. Despite the effort and spirit
demonstrated by STOL-Grasshoppers, they are not able to close the gap of about
10 points. Remarkable is the low shot percentage on the Grasshopper side (19 of
38 free throws, 9 of 20 2-pointers, 5 of 38 3-pointers). With 3˝ minutes on the
clock, there are still chances for a win (58-47), but the CTO team shoots with
sharp in the end phase and the match ends at 71-52.
Period stands:
14-14; 13-12; 18-11; 26-15;
Scores & rebounds: Rianne 21pt; Karin 11pt; Heather 4pt. and 18 rebounds.
The next match is
a home game against HLB Accountants from Den Helder
on Saturday Jan. 22 in Cleijn Duin. The match begins
at 20:15 and there is no entrance fee.
