STOL-Grasshoppers DS1 win from Uball

STOL-Grasshoppers did a good job last Saturday night in a home game against Uball from Utrecht when they won by 97-83. In an attractive match the team coached by Bo Melis took a good lead after halftime and didn’t give it away.

Uball starts strong (0-7 after 2 minutes), but STOL-Grasshoppers recuperate and via 5 points in the row from Anouk (11-11) and after 7 minutes, especially via scores from Heather, they take a small lead (19-18). The 1st period ends at 21-23.

The 2nd period starts with scores from Missy (after interception), Julia, and Ingrid to give STOL-Grasshoppers a 4 point lead (27-23). Uball fires in five 3-pointers in this period, but Anouk (1x) Rianne (2x) are shooting sharpley for the home team. The score at halftime is 47-46.

In the 3rd period, STOL-Grasshoppers sharpen their defense, and lay the foundation for a successful outcome. Via drives from Karin, two 3-pointers from Rianne, and scores under the board by an unstoppable Heather, they widen their lead. Charley closes the period with a buzzer beating 3-pointer (75-61).

Birgitte opens the scoring in the 4th period and STOL-Grasshoppers take a maximum lead of 18-points (88-70) with 5 minutes to play. Uball manages to catch up a bit, but the Katwijker’s win is not at risk.

Next Friday, STOL-Grasshoppers play an away game against CTO in Amsterdam. The next home game is on Saturday, January 22 aganst HLB Accountants from Den Helder. The match starts at 20:15 and there is no entry charge.
